Sympathies for the passing of Dr. Rodel Delgado
In a post on TLF Share Facebook page, the management announced the passing of Dr. Rodel Delgado, and conveyed the organization's sympathies and condolences to all bereaved. News of his passing was shared by Dr. Delgado's friends and colleagues on social media on October 24.
Dr. Delgado was the chief technical officer of the Provincial Health of Office of Eastern Samar. In this capacity, he was valued for his technical support and assistance to community-based HIV and AIDS initiatives, as well as a strong ally in LGBT rights advocacy in the province especially by TLF Share and Katlo San Julian, a community-based LGBT organization in the province.
On his Facebook profile, Dr. Delgado was said to have also worked in Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital and the Philippine General Hospital. He earned his degree in medicine from the University of the Philippines Manila.
Dr. Delgado had participated in Project Sirak in 2014, a project implemented in 14 Yolanda (Haiyan) affected areas in Region VIII. TLF Share co-implemented the project in Eastern Samar with Katlo San Julian, with support from UNICEF. The project worked in ensuring access to HIV services for young key populations (namely young MSM and transgenders) such as HIV education through peer-led outreach interventions, and demand generation for HIV services while super typhoon-affected areas were being rebuilt.
A documentary on Project Sirak is on TLF Share's Youtube channel (see below).
