SOGIE Equality for a more inclusive society
Homophobia, transphobia and biphobia lead to stigma, discrimination, violence and disempowerment of the LGBTQ community. These experiences continue to undermine the dignity and rights of Filipino lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders and queers. In addition, the lack of legal, socio-economic and structural support continue to exacerbate the marginalization of people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions (SOGIE).
TLF Share, a civil society organization of gay and bisexual men and transgender women, joins the call to end all forms of stigma, violence and discrimination against the LGBTQ community by creating a rights-based and gender empowering environment. Specifically, TLF Share calls on local governments with local anti-discrimination ordinances to formulate implementing rules and regulations to ensure the protection and promotion of the welfare of Filipino LGBTQs. In addition, TLF Share calls on our legislative leaders to pass the SOGIE Equality bill as a show of commitment to a more inclusive Philippine society.
To ensure inclusion and end all forms of discrimination, TLF Share will continue to work for meaningul change through capacity building, community mobilization and policy advocacy.
